OPC New Era Bemoans FG’s Attack On Akeredolu, Says Security Of Citizens Paramount

Worried by the recent attack on the governor of Ondo State , Rotimi Akeredolu by the Federal Government over a statement credited to him on the regulation of the Fulani herdsmen movement in Ondo State, The Odua Peoples Congress (OPC) new era has called on the Federal Government to allow gov. Akeredolu to fix the security situation in his state.
The national publicity officer (PRO) of OPC New Era, comrade Adesina Akinpelu in a press release he personally signed and made available to journalists in Ibadan on Thursday hinted that the group is ready to mobilise all militant groups in the South Western States of the country in favour of governor Akeredolu.
The OPC New Era however condemns in totality the reactions of the federal government on the ultimatum given by governor Rotimi Akeredolu to the unregistered herdsmen grazing on the soil of Ondo.
He however disclosed that the OPC spread across the country while staying that the FG should not force them to mobilise their members in the South South and south east in support of governor Akeredolu.
Akinpelu added that yoruba’s both at home and in the diaspora should not allow the struggle of our leaders should not be in vain.
He noted that qudos should be given to the likes of processor Banji Akintoye on where they have placed the struggle for the Yoruba Nation.
Akinpelu however called on all traditional rulers, religious leaders and all true sons and daughters of Odua not to allow the name of Akeredolu to be dented by the Federal Government led by President Mohamadu Buhari.
He also called on president Buhari to as a matter of urgency addressed the insecurity situation disturbing the country especially the South Western States of the country.
“Why is it that the president Buhari is only responsive to issues that concerns the Fulani more than other tribes in the country”
Adesina disclosed that when the daughter of pa Reuben Fasoranti was allegedly killed by the Fulani kidnappers, there was no tangible response from the Federal Government except condolence letter sent to the family without any action to fish out the killer’s.
Adesina however disclosed that all militant groups in the South west will be mobilised to defend Akeredolu and the entire Yoruba speaking states .
It will be recalled that days ago, chief Sunday Adeyemo (Sunday Igboho) issued a quit notice warrant on the Fulani herdsmen who allegedly terrorise the oke- Ogun axis of Oyo State.
Sunday Igboho recently launched a lonely invasion of some forests in oke – Ogun to fish out some of the Fulani herdsmen who uses the forests as cover after perpetuating their deadly acts.
Akinpelu however condemned the statement by the seriki of Fulani that it is only president Buhari who can ask them to vacate a place.
Akinpelu hinted that it was obvious that the herdsmen have president Buhari as their patron.
“During the reign of the former governor of Oyo State, late Lam Adesina, Buhari rushed down to Oyo State when a crisis erupted between the Fulani and Yoruba people, and that was an indication that president Buhari maintained a bond with the Fulani herdsmen”.

Also to be set up is a Joint Anti-Cultism Security Task Force comprising all major security outfits, with the mandate to rid the state of the menace of cultism.
The state is also proposing an amnesty programme for would-be cultists who may wish to surrender their weapons.
These decisions were arrived at after a joint security meeting, held at the Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State on Wednesday.
It would be recalled that Governor Dapo Abiodun on Tuesday hinted that his administration would enact a law that would pronounce the death penalty on anyone caught engaging in cult activities in the state.
The governor spoke during a visit to the palace of the Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, following days of cult-related clashes in Sagamu, which left many dead and others injured.

This would allow individuals who wish to surrender their weapons and renounce their affiliation with any cult-related groups and activities the opportunity to do so without fear of prosecution.
“As an administration deeply committed to fostering a peaceful and violence-free society, we are dedicated to providing the Special Court and Joint Anti-Cultism Security Task Force with the necessary logistics and tools to support their operations effectively.
“The overall objective of our conversation is to address the issue of cultism through a multifaceted approach. This will include legal and enforcement measures, rehabilitation efforts, and community engagement through our respected traditional leaders.
