Glenfiddich’s Grand Sleeves Launch in Lagos: A Bold Celebration of its Mavericks

Published

on

Asides being the top Single-malt whisky in town, one thing we have come to love about Glenfiddich is the brand’s ability to deliver exactly what they say they will! Most recent case in point is the official launch of the Grand Sleeves which took place on the 20th of October, at The Library Lagos situated in Victoria Island. The launch was hosted by the ever-charismatic host, Tomike Adeoye, who brought life to the evening with a dash of bubbly energy that teased smiles out of all present, including Glenfiddich’s remarkable Mavericks: Mr Eazi, Nancy Isime, Ifeanyi Nwune & William Chechet. Together with Glenfiddich, these Mavericks created limited-edition sleeves that paid tribute to the bold presence of Nigeria’s rich heritage in music, art, fashion and modern pop culture across the global scene. And what better way to start an event of this calibre than with exquisite cocktails infused with the very sleeves being launched? Guests were greeted with Glenfiddich-infused cocktails that were as vibrant as Nancy Isime’s purple-themed 15-year-old sleeve, as luscious as Ifeanyi Nwune’s artistic 12-year-old bottle and as exotic as Mr. Eazi’s afrobeat-inspired 18-year-old sleeve. As the night unfolded, each Maverick was invited to the stage to share the story behind their limited-edition sleeves. Ifeanyi Nwune, the talented fashion designer, highlighted his sleeve’s connection to his journey of resilience — the highs and lows of becoming a standout fashion designer, establishing a record label and launching his very own factory. Explaining the design behind the 12-year-old, he spoke about how the measuring tapes around the sleeve symbolise not just his craft but the universal measurements of humanity, standing for hope and resilience.Taking the stage, Mr. Eazi took us on a nostalgic trip down memory lane, sharing his personal growth and incredible journey from school days to his recent wins. As he talked about his 18-year-old sleeve, he reminded everyone of the boldness, pride, and ambition that truly defines Nigerians everywhere. Nancy Isime passionately discussed her 15-year-old sleeve, infused with elements of her rich Benin culture. According to her, the striking purple colour on the sleeve showcases the royalty of the people of Benin. In addition, Nancy explained how the sleeve represents her journey as an actor, host, and creator, showcasing her commitment to being a bold, authentic woman as she embraces her 30’s.Aside from the moving commentaries delivered by the Mavericks, Glenfiddich treated guests to show-stopping entertainment from the very beginning. Guests were entertained with an Afrofuturistic dance choreography by The Library performers and a mesmerising Hula Hoops act that featured dazzling, light-studded hoops that twirled and sparkled in the spotlight with each act. That was not all. The DJs — DJ Baggio, DJ Fisayo and the duo HandiXWanni — delivered thrilling performances that seamlessly blended Amapiano, Afrobeats, and international pop hits in a heady symphony. Now let’s talk about the food. The menu was a feast for the senses, featuring mouth-watering Prawn tempura, succulent Beef sirloin, tender pan-seared lamb racks, and the ultimate indulgence of warm Mulva pudding topped with vanilla ice cream. An actual dining experience fit for royalty. And looking at the guest list, we can honestly say there was royalty present. The star-studded event drew the likes of Temi Otedola, Etim Effiong, Elozonam, Ini-Dinma Okojie, Crossdaboss, Deyemi Okanlawon, Efai Iwara, Munachi Abii, Mimi Onalaja, amongst other mavericks in the Nigerian creative industry, all of whom added a heightened sense of sophistication and excitement to the atmosphere. If you thought the event was over, then you thought wrong. The afterparty was everything we hoped for and more. The exceptional DJ Obi and DJ Ani Daya took to the turntables and absolutely lit up the night, leaving guests breathless with insane moments to remember. In all, the launch of the #CelebrateTheBold 2.0 wasn’t just an event; it was a celebration of creativity, boldness, and the bright future ahead. It honoured the independent spirit of Nigeria and recognized the incredible contributions of all Mavericks making fearless moves and shaping the cultural landscape. Until the next insane Glenfiddich event, we’ll leave you with Nancy Isime’s words at the end of the event, “stay bold and live true to yourself.”

Dairy Academy at 2025 World Milk Day Conference

In celebration of World Milk Day 2025 with the theme ‘Let’s Celebrate the Power of Dairy’, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC, producers of Peak, Three Crowns, Coast, Olympic, and Nunu Milk brands, has announced plans to establish a Dairy Academy in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development in Nigeria. This initiative is designed to strengthen local capacity and expand Nigeria’s dairy sector sustainably.

The announcement was made by Roger Adou, Managing Director, FrieslandCampina WAMCO, during the 2025 World Milk Day Conference in Abuja, organized by the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development in partnership with dairy stakeholders and national institutions. The proposed Dairy Academy will be located on 20-hectare plots at Maya Farm in Oyo State, owned by FrieslandCampina WAMCO, and will serve as a specialized training hub for dairy farmers and service providers. The academy will deliver modern training in dairy farming, milk hygiene, animal health, and climate-smart agriculture.

The Dairy Academy will also offer flexible courses alongside an intensive Artificial Insemination (AI) course. To facilitate effective learning, the facility will be equipped with a 200-seat training hall, a laboratory, cow sheds, hay barns, silage storage, and essential farm machinery, including tractors, boom sprayers, harvesters, and manure spreaders.

FrieslandCampina WAMCO’s Dairy Development model remains a prime example to accelerate a sustainable dairy sector in Nigeria. Since its inception in 2010, the initiative has expanded across seven (7) states; Oyo, Ogun, Kwara, Ondo, Osun, Plateau, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Today, over 15,000 farmers are part of the network including women and youth who have been trained. 30 milk collection centres have been established to improve milk aggregation and cold chain reliability, with daily milk collection exceeding 40,000 litres at peak period.

The company has prioritized veterinary health in collaboration with state agricultural authorities and the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, resulting in over 10,000 cattle vaccinations across host communities. Its investment in breed improvement is evident in the birth of more than 900 Girolando crossbreed calves to date, an important step toward increasing local yields.

Launched in April 2021, the Value4Dairy Consortium, the first business partner model of its kind in Nigeria, established three dairy zones in Oyo, Osun, and Abuja. Through this consortium, FrieslandCampina WAMCO and its partners have executed over 1,351 artificial inseminations with a 65% success rate.

More than 3,300 farmers have been trained in Good Dairy Farming Practices (GDFP), and the initiative has facilitated the construction of three additional milk collection centres, 15 solar-powered coolers for fresh milk collection and 23 solar powered boreholes to support dairy hygiene. Furthermore, we have partnered with over 25 smallholder dairy farmers to support key initiatives in breed improvement, feed and pasture development.

As part of this initiative, more than 10 farmers have each been allocated 5-hectare plots or more for pasture cultivation at the Fashola Hub within the 300-hectare development land allocated to FrieslandCampina WAMCO in Oyo State.

Speaking on the significance of this expansion, Ore Famurewa, Executive Director, Corporate Affairs, stated, “The establishment of a Dairy Academy represents a major leap forward in building the technical competencies and business knowledge of dairy farmers. We are committed to developing Nigeria into a centre of dairy excellence through sustainable backward integration and strategic partnerships.”

The Honourable Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, emphasized that the Dairy Academy will serve as a national resource for empowering rural farmers to improve milk quality and yield as well as provide sustainable employment opportunities.

Reinforcing this vision, Roger Adou remarked; “Our collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development on the Dairy Academy builds on our long-term commitment to transform Nigeria’s dairy value chain. Empowering farmers with knowledge, modern technology, and sustainable practices is essential to building a self-sufficient dairy sector. FrieslandCampina WAMCO is committed to making affordable, high-quality milk accessible to every household.”

FrieslandCampina WAMCO reaffirms its vision to grow local sourcing, improve livelihoods of local farmers, and expand infrastructure, ensuring that the dairy sector becomes a catalyst for economic growth, innovation, and national food security.

Nestlé and Ministry of Livestock Development Collaborate to Launch Dairy Technical Skills Development Program

Published

on

By

Nestlé is pleased to announce an ongoing collaboration with the Federal Ministry of
Livestock Development to launch a Dairy Technical Skills Development Program. This
initiative, formalized through a Letter of Intent (LOI) signed today in commemoration of
World Milk Day 2025, aims to enhance the quality and volume of milk production in Nigeria,
addressing critical needs within the dairy sector.
The LOI reflects a shared commitment to develop mid-level technical and vocational skills
essential for strengthening Nigeria’s dairy value chain, ensuring food security, improving
nutrition, and fostering sustainable livelihoods. The partnership will focus on:
 Establishing capacity-building programs centered on milk production,
processing, hygiene, and management.
 Promoting industry-relevant skills through training modules developed in
collaboration with stakeholders.
 Enhancing milk quality and productivity across local dairy clusters through
knowledge sharing and technical support.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Wassim Elhusseini, Managing Director and CEO of
Nestlé Nigeria PLC said, “In addition to our global dairy experience, Nestlé has built capacity
to provide targeted training programs on best practices in dairy farming adapted to the
Nigerian context. This is why the Letter of Intent signifies more than a formal agreement; it
reflects our mutual dedication to bridge the gap in mid-level technical skills within the dairy
sector to meet the growing demands of the market. We are confident that this will have a
positive impact on our communities by creating more jobs, improving livelihoods, and
supporting a stronger economy.”
The Honorable Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, remarked,
“Since the establishment of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, we have taken
significant steps to address the challenges facing the dairy value chain. Under the National
Livestock Growth Acceleration Strategy, we are focusing on key pillars, including livestock
value chain development and feed and fodder improvement. Our collaboration with Nestlé
Nigeria will lead to the commissioning of a Dairy Training Centre in Paikon Kore,
Gwagwalada, aimed at building mid-level manpower and training farmers to enhance
productivity through modern practices.”

From the launch of its Dairy Development Project (NLDP) in 2019, Nestlé Nigeria has been
actively contributing to the enhancement of the dairy sector. The NLDP has established 83
dairy cooperatives, benefiting over 3,000 milk producers and has aggregated more than 1
million liters of raw milk. Nestlé has also trained over 2,000 milk producers in best practices,
vaccinated over 36,744 cattle, and facilitated water access through the construction of 19
boreholes and 28 water troughs.
These efforts have led to significant improvements in milk quality, reducing rejection rates
from 12% in 2021 to as low as 5% in 2024, while monthly revenue for milk producers has
increased from ₦70,000 in 2019 to ₦250,000 in 2024.
The launch of the Nestlé Dairy Demonstration Farm provides a practical model to illustrate
how best practices can safely increase milk production of local breeds from an average of 1
liter per cow per day to over 10 liters. Following the launch, the Honorable Minister invited
Nestlé Nigeria to convert the farm into a training institute, an opportunity that Nestlé eagerly
accepted leading to the signing of the LOI today.
By investing in the future of Nigeria’s dairy sector, Nestlé is dedicated to building capacity
and capability for a sustainable and prosperous industry that supports the nation’s
development.
End.
