Six injured as Army denies shooting at protesters at Dangote Sugar Company in Adamawa

Six persons have been injured, when personnel of the Nigerian Army tried to disperse protesters
The protesters were at the Dangote Sugar Company, in the Gyawana community of Lamurde Local Government Area in Adamawa State.
The protesters are accusing Dangote Sugar Company of sidelining the youths of the host community when it comes to employment opportunities.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri who was in Lamurde, to commiserate with the victims of the incident, called for an end to the repeated crisis between the youths of the host community and the management of the company.
He also condemned the approach adopted by youths in tabling their grievances and the military for reacting in the manner they did.
Meanwhile, the 23 Armoured Brigade, Yola, has responded in a statement made available by its Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Major Haruna Sani, by dismissing the report that the army shot at protesters.
The statement further revealed that the soldiers did not open fire on the protesting staff of Dangote Sugar Company but teargassed the youths, and warning shots were fired as a non-violent means of crowd dispersal, and to further prevent troops from being lynched by the mob.
