Chief of Army Staff: Buhari seeks Faruk Yahaya’s confirmation
President Muhammadu Buhari has formally requested the House of Representatives approval for confirmation of Chief of Army Staff, Major General Faruk Yahaya.
The request was contained in a letter from President Buhari read on the floor of the House by Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila on Tuesday.
Major-General Yahaya was appointed following the death of the immediate past Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru, in a plane crash along with 10 other military officers.
The request for Maj Gen Yahaya’s confirmation comes amid heightened security challenges in the country.
