New Event Listing and Booking Platform nawhe? Goes Live in Nigeria, UK, US and Canada

African events are increasingly crossing borders, from concerts and cultural celebrations to professional gatherings, community events and nightlife. Yet discovering these experiences — particularly for Africans living outside the continent — can still mean searching through different social media pages, promoters and ticketing websites.

nawhe?, an event discovery and ticketing platform developed by Nigerian technology entrepreneur Semasa Hokon, is being built to make that experience simpler.

The platform, available at nawhe.com, focuses particularly on African and Black diaspora events and experiences, helping people discover what is happening around them while giving organisers another channel through which to reach potential attendees.

Rather than focusing solely on ticket sales, nawhe? combines event discovery and ticketing. Visitors can explore events based on where they are and also discover experiences happening beyond their immediate location.

For organisers, events can be listed for discovery even where tickets are already being sold elsewhere, allowing promoters to retain their existing ticketing arrangements while gaining additional visibility. Organisers who choose to sell directly through nawhe? can also manage ticket sales and payments through the platform.

The service currently supports ticket payments across Nigeria, the United Kingdom, United States and Canada, with transactions handled through established payment infrastructure including Stripe and Paystack.

Speaking about the thinking behind the platform, Semasa Opeoluwa Hokon the innovator said:

“There are so many African events happening around the world, but discovering them is still very fragmented. Someone may only hear about an event because they happen to follow the right Instagram account or belong to the right WhatsApp group. We want nawhe? to make discovering what is happening much easier, while also giving organisers another way to reach the people who are genuinely interested in these experiences.”

The platform has been developed with an international audience in mind while maintaining a strong connection to Africa. Someone in the UK, for example, can discover experiences closer to home while also exploring events taking place in Nigeria, Canada, the United States and other markets as the platform expands.

For promoters, nawhe? offers free event listing alongside direct ticketing. Its current ticketing charges are structured by market, including 4% + ₦100 in Nigeria, 4% + £0.35 in the UK, 4% + $0.45 in the United States and 4% + C$0.50 in Canada.

The platform forms part of the growing portfolio of technology products developed under Semasir Connect, founded by Semasa after years of building web-based products and digital solutions serving businesses, schools and online communities.

Semasa says the immediate focus is building a useful discovery network for organisers and audiences rather than simply becoming another place to buy tickets.

“Ticketing is important, but discovery comes first for us. An event cannot sell a ticket to somebody who never discovers that it exists. We want to help close that gap, particularly for African and diaspora events.”

Organisers can submit and manage events through http://nawhe.com, while visitors can use the platform to discover upcoming experiences.
