NASU Disrupts WAEC Recruitment Test in Ogba, Candidates Left Stranded

Members of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) on Friday disrupted a planned aptitude test organised by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) for new recruits at the Council’s office in Ogba, Lagos.

The union accused WAEC management of failing to follow due process in the recruitment exercise. NASU members said the Council had refused to promote existing staff while proceeding to hire new workers.

As the protest continued, candidates who reported for the aptitude test were left stranded outside the building. Union members occupied the premises and displayed placards as they pressed their demands.

NASU said the action was in defence of internal career progression and proper recruitment procedures. At the time of filing this report, it was not immediately clear whether the test would be rescheduled.

WAEC management had not issued an official statement as of press time.
