As the clock ticks for the takeoff of the Asaba 2022 National Sports Festival, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) in a last-minute count says it’s expecting no fewer than 12,500 athletes and ready to hoist as many as 39 flags representing the 36 states of the federation, the FCT and the flag of the game itself.

Commissioner for Information Charles Aniagwu who doubles as the spokesperson of the LOC while briefing journalists in Asaba gave insight into a number of issues namely security, final clearing of the stadium of unwanted vehicles and other expectations.
He said Delta state is ready while three states have arrived for the games

According to Aniagwu, the LOC has taken some measures that will add beauty to the event both the opening and closing ceremony and measures to ensure free transportation of athletes to venues of the competition at every given period bearing in mind that the 38 games are taking place in Asaba and adjourning capital territories simultaneously

Aniagwu said the LOC will henceforth meet on a daily basis to fine-tune areas that need to be strengthened as events unfold as well as ensure that everyone that has anything to do with the game is properly taken care of.

He concludes that in the tradition of Okowa-led administration, the LOC will be accountable by ensuring that every fund deployed would be judiciously utilised and at the same time host the best competition ever in the history of the festival.
