Ogun PDP Congratulates Tobi Amusan for Breaking World Record

Ogun state chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has congratulated Athlete Tobi Amusan for breaking world record at the just concluded World Athletics Championship 2022, while calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to celebrate her with National Honour.

In statement released on Monday by the state publicity secretary, Asiwaju Bankole Akinloye, Amusan was described as worthy ambassador of Nigeria and true compatriot who deserves a national award for being the first Nigerian to win the women’s 100m hurdles gold.

Bankole said, “Tobi Amusan’s victory has no doubt resonated the greatness of Nigeria country in the international world. She truly deserves a national honour by the federal government in order to appreciate her resilience, determination and victory, which will also encourage other Nigerian athletes in their respective outings”.

“This is the first time in history when a female Nigerian will win such a tough track contest. She must have gone through different challenges and tough training to bring this glory to the country, and that is a reflection of how great we are as indegenes of Ogun state”, Akinloye added.

He however, called on the Nigeria ministry of sports and youth development to further encourage and strengthen young Nigerians at various strata of sporting events by providing adequate facilities and platforms for them to strive in the world of sports.
