Open Letter to Governor Dapo Abiodun – Why Should Ogun State Use Generating Sets To Power Street Lights On A Reconstructed Multi-billion Naira Road Project?
I find it pertinent to write this open letter to our Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, since the ruling party has failed to properly address issues and provide answers to some very important questions asked by the people of Ogun State. Rather his party’s spokespersons will always leave main issues that require cogent answers and only attack personalities.
First of all, I must acknowledge and commend the ruling party at least for yielding to profitable advice and tactically admitting that having the person of Mr Tunde Oladunjoye as the party’s Publicity Secretary was a very wrong decision because of his dented image. This we observed with the reaction of the party’s latest statement purportedly signed by the Assistant Publicity Secretary, Mrs Olusola Ogunsanya.
One would have expected that the courage Ogun APC used in admitting Oladunjoye is unfit should also be used to advise Your Excellncy in running the affairs of Ogun State profitably in the collective interest of the people.
Now that the ruling party has woefully failed to defend this government’s inordinate actions and poorly executed programmes, I feel it is better to seek answers for these pending questions directly from Mr Governor.
These pending questions are:
1. Why should Ogun State use Generating Sets to power a stretch of 42km road when there are many other cost-effective options that will not require mindless wastage of public funds on periodic purchase of diesel?
2. Who supplies the diesel for powering these sets, at what cost and what is the budgeted amount for this.
3. Can Ogun people know the justification for the N7billion your government claimed was spent on the Gateway City Gate?
4. Why is Ogun State government owing Cooperative deductions of Workers up to 22 months, seven years of Leave allowance, gratuities and pensions of retirees running into 170 months despite several failed promises to start paying quarterly?
5. Why is the 7.5% that the government finds so easy to deduct from Workers salary is NOT remitted for 158 months?
6. Why has the security situation in Ogun State gone so bad to such level where kidnappings and killings of innocent souls have become the order of the day?
7. Why has Mr Governor kept sealed lips on the massive fraud and forgery running into billions of Naira perpetrated under your watch in the Ogun State Bureau of Lands which are now being swept under the carpet?
Your Excellency, the foregoing are the simple questions the people of Ogun State keep asking without any meaningful response except the gibberish statements and watery releases often issued by your party.
The good people of Ogun State expect more reasonable answers from you and I strongly believe, it is their constitutional right to know!
Thank you.
