SA On Special Duties To The Governor Inspects Schools Under The home grown school Feeding Program
The SA on Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs to the Governor Asiwaju Adewale Aka paid an unexpected visit to schools in Ogun State under the Home grown School Feeding Program.
The SA who has been on tour to various schools in Ogun State which started from Abeokuta South LGA , Abeokuta North LGA, Odeda LGA, today visited Sagamu LGA.The Schools visited were;Wesley Primary School, Soyindo, Wesley Primary School Oko 1, Wesley Primary School ,Oko 2, Ansarudeen Nur and Pry School, Isale Oko and St.Columcille Pry School, Ofin asked about the well-being of the food vendors through the Head of each school and the food vendors themselves.He also took time to ask how the children have been faring under the program.
The benefits of this program which have been evident and manifold has enable schools provide local farmers with a predictable outlet for their products, leading to a stable income, more investments and higher productivity. The children are to enjoy healthy, diversified food; this makes it more likely that they will stay in school, perform better and improve their adult job prospects. At the community level, Home Grown School Feeding initiatives promote nutrition education and better eating habits, and encourage the diversification of production with a special emphasis on local crops. Community involvement, in turn, enhances the sustainability of programmes.
Though he noted some abnormalies which he said will be looked into based on his personal assessment of things he observed himself.
He appreciated the effort of those who have been dutifully doing the job and also encouraged them to do more while other issues raised will be looked into.
