Dapo Abiodun Is Callous, Non Payment Of ASUP Salaries Is Unjustifiable – Ogun PDP
The Ogun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemn the Ogun State Government under the leadership of Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun over none-remittance of salaries and deductions of polytechnic workers, Ogun PDP in a release signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Asiwaju Bankole Akinloye (JP), the party felt concerned over none-remittance of salaries and other allowances.
“The reports of current plight of members of Ogun State chapter of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic, ASUP over non payment of their salaries and other entitlements by Ogun State government has increasingly become a huge source of concern to the Peoples Democratic party, PDP, Ogun State chapter”.
“Without mincing words, it is note worthy that the current ruling APC government in Ogun, since its inception, two years ago, has never pretended about its evident insensitivity to the general well-being of Ogun workers. Apart from the members of ASUP who are currently dying over agony of non payment of their salaries, It is also on record that the government, for well over 15 months, has not remitted the monthly contributory deductions to the workers”.
“The callous way and manner the ruling government responded by to the peaceful protest staged few weeks ago by civil service retirees to press home their legitimate demands from the government by shutting them out of Governor’s office is an unambiguous testimony of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s blatant disregard for the promotion and protec”tion of the people’s welfare”.
“Given our party’s direct touch with the people of Ogun State, we are aware of the popular acceptance that all available indecies point to steady decline in the well-being of Ogun workers, since the birth of the ruling government, we also owe it a democratic duty to remind the government, very quickly that members of ASUP, just as the pensioners are dying of neglect and indecent treatment by the government who swore to promote their cause”.
“We consider it noble to implore Mr. Governor that instead of embarking on cosmetic projects aimed at diverting public resources to private vaults outside the state, we make bold to call on the ruling government to approve the immediate payment of all outstanding salaries and indeed other benefits of members of ASUP and other category of workers who are currently being owed”.
“Again, the ruling APC government is reminded that payment of workers’ salaries is a first line charge. We challenge the government to develop a friendly attitude of prioritizing the welfare of Ogun workers especially given the excruciating pains of socioeconomic realities occasioned by manifest misrule of the ruling APC government both in Ogun state and Nigeria in general”.
