UN Drug Abuse Day: NDLEA to visit Schools, Traditional rulers, others

As part of activities to commemorate the 2021 United Nations Day Against Drug Abuse And Trafficking, the Katsina Command of the Nigeria Drugs Law Enforcement Agency has rolled out a week-long activities to mark the day.

The theme for this year’s day, to be marked on June 26 is, “Share Facts About Drugs, Save Lives.”

The Commander of the Agency in the state, Sule Momdu, said the weeklong activities will include visitation to 60 secondary schools, traditional rulers and other critical stakeholders, to educate them about the dangers of drug abuse.

Momodu also said that the command is collaborating with the state government, under the department of drugs and narcotics and human trafficking, to achieve the feat.

The Special Adviser on Drugs And Narcotics And Human Trafficking, Hamza Borodo, said the state government has done a lot in terms of the fight against drug abuse, by constructing a rehabilitation centre for the state command of the Nigeria Drugs Law Enforcement Agency.

He added that the state government has also created the Department Of Drugs And Narcotics, to boost the fight against drugs abuse.

Borodo said his office will effectively collaborate with the Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, to jointly visit stakeholders and traditional rulers, to synergize against drug abuse.
